Our Client
In this position, you will be assigned to our Western Australia-based client, a broad-line business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) distributor of industrial, maintenance, repair, operating ‘MRO’, safety & workplace supplies and other related products and services.
They provide supplies and solutions for every industry through its portfolio of distribution businesses that extends across the end-to-end supply chain covering Business, Trade, Retail, Service & Specialist Wholesale.
The Role
The Assistant Accountant will be reporting to the Management Accountant, supporting the day-to-day accounting functions. At the same time, provide support to the Financial Controller and Management Accountant in all their responsibilities and also support the accounts team.
Your Responsibilities
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and analyses, including sales and expense reporting, cost control, profit margin analysis, freight, inventory management.
• Preparing month end GL reconciliations (P&L and Balance Sheet) and reports for review by Management Accountant.
• Assist with daily-weekly cash flow reporting and forecasting, including bank reconciliations.
• Assist with setup and maintaining budgets, variance and forecast reporting.
• Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly business activity statements.
• Responding to financial enquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
• Assist with maintenance and management of financial accounting IT processes and document management.
• Reconciliation of inter-company accounts.
• Fixed asset register maintenance.
• Support the Finance Team in the day-to-day financial reporting operations (bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable functions).
• Support the business with accounting queries.
• Support the provision of reports and analysis to operational business departments and branches.
• Other ad-hoc projects and tasks.
• Assisting the Financial Controller and Management Accountant:
-Ad-hoc analysis including ‘deep dives’ into the business – transparency and financial relevance.
-Working closely with management to share reports and analysis findings.
-Assist in preparing year-end accounts and statutory accounts.
-Liaising with financial institutions.
-Reviewing and identifying outstanding debtors/creditors and recommending any necessary action to be taken.
Your Background
• At least 3-4 years experience in Accounts receivable and payables.
• Degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent.
• Exposure to processing of general journals.
• Advanced in Microsoft office suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
• Relevant experience with using Sage or similar; with MYOB AccountRight is an advantage
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Working knowledge of accounts receivables and accounts payables operating procedures.
• Strong knowledge & experience of working capital management and daily cash flow management.
• Firm grasp of financial principles.
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
• CA/CPA Qualified or working towards.
