Your Responsibilities
For this position, we are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join the client’s finance team. This role involves handling ledger postings, managing credit control, and assisting with the month-end closing processes. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ledger Posting
- Accurately post financial transactions into the accounting software.
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of invoices, receipts, and other financial records.
- Reconcile discrepancies in accounts and promptly resolve any issues.
- Credit Control
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up with clients for timely payments.
- Prepare aging reports to track overdue accounts.
- Assist in setting credit limits and evaluating creditworthiness of customers.
- Communicate with clients regarding payment terms and resolve disputes or queries.
- Support in the development of strategies to minimize bad debts
- Month-End Preparation:
- Assist with the preparation of month-end financial statements and reports.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank, vendor, and customer accounts.
- Prepare and process monthly journal entries.
- Review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy.
- Support in closing the books and ensure all financial information is accurate and complete
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a similar role or relevant accounting internship experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar).
- Strong MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate data entry and maintaining precise records.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients and colleagues.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
